Adopted ARLGP 2013-2014 (4)

Chandler and Charles had been very antisocial with good reason. But after spending months in foster care these boys turned around and were ready for their future. They were adopted together through the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland and we couldn't have been happier to get that news! Marshall was another fella that had his turn going in and out of different situations. But he finally got lucky when he went to ARLGP.

And she is what her name implies. This longhair gray beauty is a gentle soul. Once she trusts you, she will be your devoted girl. She does not handle busy environments very well, preferring a nice quiet home with gentle people.

Sharon – November 2013

I'm Sharon and I'm about 2 1/2 years old. I have super cool white "nail polished" paws  Come check 'em out. I'm ok with some cats but I'm definitely not so sure about those animals that bark, bark, bark. I may not be too keen being around them. I love food and treats and well, sleeping, and sitting in the window is pretty cool too.
Sharon – November 2013

Tinkerbell – October 2013

Hi, I'm Tinkerbell. Check out my beautiful markings. I'm a big girl with big love to give. I love catnip and to play with those little furry mice who seem to always get away from me. You'll know when I'm happy cuz I'll roll onto my back looking for those wondrous belly rubs. Please pet me all you want, I just love it. I'm great with children...they are just so lovable, just like I am. So I'm looking for a home with some children to play with and some loving to give and receive.

Bonnie – October 2013

I'm Bonnie. I'm a beautiful young calico. My babies and I had a rough start to life but thanks to a lovely kind lady who found us, saved us and brought us to HHPR, I am healthy now. I was taken care of very well by all the volunteers at HHPR and am ready for my fur-ever home. I love to rub against you and give you love - even after all the pain and trauma I was caused previously. I love this kitty tunnel, especially when I run through it and it makes that crunchy noise, it's so fun! I would love someone to take me home and shower me with love because I certainly do love it and deserve it. Thanks go out to my wonderful rescuer and HHPR for all their kindness.

Jazz – December 2013

Hi I'm Jazz. Check out my beautiful big mittens. They are pretty good for smacking the other cats around LOL. I'm about 10 months old and I'm a sweet cat that enjoys being petted and eating treats. I'm not too keen of the other cats around me but I guess they're ok. I definitely like hanging out in the outside enclosure here at Halfway Home. I love the sun on my fur. It's feels good. Come visit me some time. Update: Jazz was transferred to the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland where she found her forever home.
Jazz – December 2013

Molly here. I'm a young girl, a little less than a year old. I love attention and to be played with. If you pull out a treat, I'll be right by your side. Of course, I'm a dark torti and who doesn't love our gorgeous colors? I also love to be outside in the enclosure here. I like the other cats around, like kids too and I took care of my own babies. Now it's my time. If you're looking for a beauty who loves attention, look no further, you found her.

Chester is a young, neutered male with lots of energy, curiosity and love to give the right family. This guy is a bit special - he has 3 legs. But that does not slow him down much or prevent him from doing what most any other cat would do. We have Chester's full story in our "Special Cats" section.

Danny – June 2013

Danny is approximately 2 1/2 years old, male, neutered, gray tiger. He is very confident and has great pride in his appearance. He gets along well with other cats especially females. With males, he will not start a fight but he will not back down from one either. He has all his medical completed and his adoption fee is only $25.00. Danny is a very big cat and will probably gain even more. He is clean, playful and curious. He is a great hunter. If kept inside all the time, Danny will need some serious playtime to satisfy his hunting instinct. A toy like the feather on a pole or hiding toy mice in tight places will fulfill his need. He will be great with any size family. Danny can be sensitive about his tail being touched. Note: HHPR encourages responsible pet ownership. Cats live longer, healthier lives if kept indoors. Cats are very happy to live indoors if they have their physical and emotional needs met. Make your home a cat friendly environment with places of their own such at cat trees and condos, cat grass plants, and toys that mimic hunting and foraging. And play with your cat!
Danny – June 2013

Gracie – June 2013

Gracie is a young spayed female Maine Coon mix.
Gracie – June 2013

Rita – October 2013

Hello, my name is Rita. I have no idea why I look so unhappy in all my photos because I'm a happy young girl. I may be shy at times but if you give me time, I come right out of my shell and may even sit on your lap. I'm not much of a "please pick me and hold me" kinda cat but I do enjoy being petted and brushed, especially being brushed. I WILL NOT leave your side during brushing time, at all! Bill and I are pretty good friends and we will sit together while you brush us both. It's fun! I'd prefer a quieter fur-ever home, maybe with older children and even a place where I can hang out in a window and watch the birds fly by and feel the sun on my fur. NOTE: Rita was adopted with Bill ! November update from Rita's new family:  We are truly enjoying Rita and Bill.  My nickname for them is R & B for rhythm and blues, appropriate since I teach music in the public school system.  Anyway, they have adjusted very well and my husband and I love having them around.  It's funny the little routines we all get into in such a short time.  I can't imagine not having them around.
Rita – October 2013
Adopted 2013

Billy Bob – November 2013

Billy Bob is approximately 4 years old, neutered, black and white, LARGE lap cat. He is clean, loving and good with female cats if they are not bossy. Scared of female cats if they are bossy. He looks like a tough guy with that large face, but he is very sweet. Billy Bob posed a lot of challenges to find the best placement. After many efforts and heartbreaks, he finally landed into a suitable home later in 2013.
Billy Bob – November 2013
Adopted 2013

Minou – October 2013

Minou is approximately 4 years old, spayed, calico. She is shy and would be best in a one-cat home with an older person. She is a large cat with very distinct markings. "My name is Minou. I'm tri-lingual. I know Cat, English and French. Sadly, my owner had to go into a nursing home and he was no longer able to keep me. I've been here at HHPR since February. I may be about three years old. I miss my owner and my home. I wish someone who maybe was bi-lingual or even tri-lingual would come and adopt me! I'd prefer a home without other cats and no young kids for me please. Come speak French to me and see if I respond." Note: Minou did find a bilingual home!
Minou – October 2013

Tucker – January 2013

Tucker is about 2 years old. We have had him neutered, Leukemia/AIDS tested, distemper/rabies shots, wormed and Revolution treated. He came in with matted long hair. We had him shaved with the Lion cut. He will require regular combing a few times a week. He is beautiful and will be more beautiful when his hair grows back out. Tucker is a sweetie pie who came to us earlier in the year when he had been dropped on a country road because his owner was too cheap to neuter him.  He was adopted for a while but it did not work out and he has come back to HHPR. He is clean living, loving and always looks like he wants to understand what you want from him. He is shy of other cats but is not a fighter. Adoption fee is $25.00
