Pets in Need: Adopted 2011
12/2011
Maxwell, a young approximately 7-month-old cat residing at Halfway Home Pet Rescue, is not happy being in a cage although he kisses and purrs in hopes of talking his way to freedom. Maxwell has been wormed & Revolution (parasite prevention) and will continue to be isolated & caged until he has had his Leukemia/AIDS test, sterilization & rabies shot on Monday, 12/19/11. On Wednesday, Dec. 21, Maxwell will receive his distemper shot and be placed in the social room with other cordial adult cats so he can visit & play at will with his new friends. Maxwell is very friendly, loving, clean, happy & talkative. He still has a lot of kitten tricks & creates a good time for himself. He will make a lovely pet for any family including young children or elderly parents. His adoption fee is only $25.00
Bobby is about 10 months old, a neutered male, Leukemia/AIDS tested, all shots, wormed, Revolution treated (30-day parasite prevention). Bobby is a delightful, happy young boy who really wants a good home for Christmas. He is clean and gets along with everyone. He is not an alpha male just everyone's good friend. Carol is an 8-week-old female, mother leukemia tested, wormed x2, distemper shot & a spay voucher. Sweetheart, clean, litter trained. Happy & Cuddly. Adoption fee $50.00
Cheryl does whatever & whenever Cherylwants and her sister Carol prays for her safe return from any adventure. Cheryl is 8-9 weeks old, came in with 3 siblings from a wooded area apparently abandoned. They are all a little scared right now, but Cheryl will not let fear of the unknown keep her from investigating this new place. She is clean, happy, precious and a real circus clown. Her adoption fee is $50.00. She has 1st shot, wormed, etc. and will be adopted with a spay voucher. Great, fun kitten.
Bentley is 8 weeks old and needs another 10 days before adoption. He came in with mother, Sunshine & 3 siblings and needed recovery from abandonment issues with a hoarder situation. Bentley was born with a deformed neck. It was bent all the way around so it constantly looked like he was looking up and around. He had to eat lying on his side and pushing his full face through the dish of food. But nothing slowed him down and we have adored having this little fellow. Our vet suggested we give him a lot of time to see if he could straighten things out himself. Bentley was his own physical therapist and he stuggled and worked to compete with his family. Soon he was play fighting with his sibling and Bentley never cried "When." His neck is 85% straightened due to his own perserverance. His adoption fee is $50.00.
Tom is a 9-week old wonderdog. He is always ready to run, jump and tease. He can turn a double somersault and not even know he has done anything special. He reminds me of the verse "Tom, Tom, the piper's son. He stole a pig and away he run." Who would want to steal a pig...only our little Tom. We love him, he is smart, quick and playful. He will have shots, worming, Revolution, and a neuter voucher for adoption. Adoption fee is $50.00

Nance is a 4 month old male who will be neutered in a couple of weeks, he has 2 distemper shots and will get his rabies when neutered. He is wormed, leukemia/AIDS tested negative, and Revolution treated (30-day parasite prevention). Nance is very clean, a little shy at first but gathering more courage every day to approach humans. Fannie is a beautiful, well mannered, clean all-white, short-haired and happy 11-year-old female cat who would love a new home. Fannie will make a lovely pet for any home. She loves to be petted and be in the middle on any family situation. She is happy and healthy. Spayed, Leukemia/AIDS tested negative, wormed distemper, rabies & Leukemia vaccinations and Revolution treated. Adoption fee is $25.00.

Marsha is a dsh, black & white, about seven or eight months old. She just weaned a litter of three kittens and was a very wonderful and dedicated momma. Even after being spayed, she went back to nursing and loving her own kittens. She loves to sleep with a person, she is clean about the house and has very good manners. She tolerates other cats after an "initial hiss and greet" introduction. She is delightful to watch as she is used to playing by herself and still has much of the kitten loving in her. She is spayed, Leukemia/AIDS tested negative, distemper and rabies shots, wormed and has a 30-day Revolution treatment done (parasite prevention). Her adoption fee is $25.
Teddy, about 2 years old, neutered shorthair, tiger and white with striking features, great personality.

Sugar (left), a spayed tiger female, & Bill (below), a neutered black/white male, are both siblings to Petey & Paul all of feral background and rescued from a woods colony. They are Leukemia/AIDS tested negative, distemper & rabies shot and clear of parasites. Sugar & Bill are shy (scared), but will not bite or hiss, just need a calm quiet home until they are feeling safe again. Petey & Paul have both domesticated, but these two are taking a little longer. Need a home with lots of calming love and soft talk, no very young children. Great with other cats, not sure about dogs. Great mousers. Adoption fee for the two together is 40.00 for the two - I will not separate these 2 as they sleep with their legs around each other.
Amy is a young 8 mos old spayed female who is very shy but very gentle. She hides from activity, but loves being held in your arms. She is spayed, leukemia tested, all shots and cleared of all parasites. Adoption fee is $50.00

She gets along well with male cats but not so great with other females. However, if they hiss back at her -- she does back down in a hurry. Good Momma (renamed Brenda) is only about 8 months old and still likes to play like a kitten. She came in with 2-week-old babies and while nursing them she took on 5 other orphans that needed nursing and then 2 more orphans. After finally being spayed just this past Friday, she came home and INSISTED that she would not stop being restless until she was allowed to go back to nursing her last two orphans who are just plain spoiled with her attention. Brenda is clean, happy, loving, warm and a totally sweet cat for any family. You won't find one more loving than this. During the "Black is Back" special, Brenda's adoption fee is only $15.00. Better hurry, she really is a great cat.
Angie is only 7 months old and she has spent 4 of those months at HHPR because of people's hangups with black cats. The only way Angie is unlucky is because of her color and people's prejudice. She is Leukemia/AIDS tested, spayed, all shots, wormed and Revolution treated and during the "Black is Back" event in collaboration with Best Friends, Angie is only $15.00 until Dec. 24. Angie is very clean, healthy and a little shy until she knows you will not hurt her. She came from a horrible hoarder situation and need time to recover from medical and socialization issues in which fear caused her to hide a lot. Angie is physically tiny and loves to be loved once she knows your hands won't hurt her.
Marilyn Monroe has joined the party. She is about 2 years old, very sweet & friendly. She is Leukemia/AIDS tested, shots, spayed, worming and Revolution treated (30-day parasite prevention). Dinty Moore Stu, is about 2 years old, orange tiger, scared at this point. He was found with his head stuck in a can of Dinty Moore Beef Stew and had probably been that way for a while. The rescue worker saw several people kick the can and limp body of Dinty before she got to him. Off to the vet to get the can removed, moved to HHPR, back to the vet for testing & neutering, and although he is grateful for his food, shelter and cleaning. Dinty really is sure about life in general. Give him some time and love and he will be a fine pet. We believe he is a good mouser as he is not under weight. He is clean, scared, healthy, and his adoption fee is $25.00. He is neutered, leukemia/AIDS tested, wormed, shots, and Revolution treated (30-day parasite prevention).
Blaze is a 2 year old Maine Coon look. We recently worked with 3 local hoarder situations and Blaze is one of about 35 that we have been working with. Some were quite ill and like Blaze needed recovery time. He is now ready to go. He is on the shy side, but will warm up as he gets to know you. He lets the females boss him around and only gives a little hiss at times to tell you he does have rights. He is neutered, leukemia/AIDS tested, wormed, shots and Revolution treated (30-day parasite prevention). His adoption fee is $25.00.

Michael is a 10-month old neutered male who is best friends with everyone, male or female and of any species. His favorite friend is Sugar who is his constant companion whether they are cleaning each other’s ears or boxing them. Michael is Leukemia/AIDS tested negative, neutered, wormed x 3, Revolution treated (30-day parasite prevention), and has current distemper and rabies vaccinations. He is clean, happy and active. Both would be great inside cats, but would like to be inside/outside cats if in a very quiet neighborhood. He is not street-smart and is very, very curious and trusting which could be dangerous outside so be careful about his outside activity if that is chosen for them. He wouldn’t think twice about checking out a car’s motor/wheels or a bull moose. His adoption fee is $25.00
Stella is a 4-month-old beauty who will be spayed in another month. She is Leukemiak/AIDS negative, 2 distemper shots. She will get her rabies shot at spay time. An all around great kitten, needs a loving happy family (no very young children). Adoption fee is $25.00

Feral Arrow, is about 7 months old, shorthair tiger brownish, came in as a feral but is loose in our house and wraps himself around your feet. He loves to be with you but does not want you to pick him up yet. His momma was Mother Danielle (who nursed Lily) and he is very clean, happy, gets along beautifully with other cats. Not familiar with dogs. He would like a home with other cats, no really small children, and a family that understand that he is loving but not trusting enough yet to be picked up and held for long. He has absolutely beautiful green eyes.
Shanna is a year old calico tiger who really loves attention who will just reach right out for you. She's very playful. She tolerates other cats but prefers to be alone. Probably would prefer either a single cat home or possibly one other cat.

Sally came to HHPR on 2/16/2011. She was picked up as a stray lying in the middle of the road. It looked like she wanted to end things. Only about 8 months old or less, her eyes are lifeless as is her thin bony body. She, is a tiny cat and is pregnant to boot and extremely dehydrated. Filled only with fleas, worms and babies, it is no wonder she laid down in the road to wait for a truck. Both her ears are severely frostbitten and she will lose most of both her outer ear coverings. Her tiny feet are blistering with the frostbite. Her tail has been broken. Sally is in horrible pain, but may recover with good medical care and lots of love. Each time we feed her or give medication, she makes a very soft mummur that sounds like "thank you." She has a fantastic mixture of colors and will be beautiful when she is well. Sally will be ready for adoption in a few months. It will take that long to bring her back to good health. April 1 update: Sally is improving, her ears are healing, she's gaining weight, but she still has a lot of recovery yet to do. Photos below show Sally's progress.
Frosty (formerly Donald) is a neutered male about 2 years old. Came in badly frostbitten. Has lost the tip of his right ear. His feet blisters from the cold have healed, but he is still very shy and scared. Frosty has been through some very rough times and hides most of the time. Frosty will need a quiet and loving family to help him get over his obvious abuse issues. He will not bite or even hiss, just crouches down and waits to see if you will pat or hit him. Very deserving cat, likes to be cuddled. He is neutered, leukemia tested, all shots and cleared of parasites. He will be a totally devoted pet to anyone who loves him and gives him time to recover from his abuse and frostbite. Adoption Fee: $50.00
