Princess Mary is back home
In September 2024, at one of our spay-neuter clinics, a little black and white kitten escaped from her carrier when she was picked up to go home. The HHPR volunteers and the family looked for her for months. There were several sightings, but we were unable to catch her in a trap. She had been a barn cat, so she had some smarts to live on her own. During the winter, our volunteers could hear a cat under our building. They ensured the cat had food and water throughout the winter, and she eventually learned to trust the volunteers, especially Peter Ellis, who was able to lure her into a trap with a trail of treats. We had her checked by Dr. Stone, and she was in great shape. She was reunited with the Rodgerson family from Mount Chase on June 3. Our dedicated volunteers didn’t give up until she was home.
