Tara spent a few months at HHPR’s adoption facility. She charmed all the volunteers with her affection and her funny squeaky purr, but when it came to Adoption Day – forget it. She did not see anyone she wanted.
Then there’s Facebook. Volunteer Kelly Normandin promoted Tara on our Facebook page with some great photos and video that captured Tara’s personality and this worked!
Enter Joan Theriault – who saw Tara and “couldn’t get her off my mind.”

Tara at home.
From Joan:
Do you think she could be any more comfortable? She is doing so well. I wanted to tell you about that squeaky purr of hers. I had noticed that when she purred and squeaked, she was doing so through her mouth and her breathing seem to be a little labored. When she was not purring, her breathing was normal. Well, she doesn’t do that anymore at all. She purrs normally now, although it still is little on the loud side, and she does so with her mouth closed and no squeaks. Her breathing isn’t labored any more, either, so I am wondering if that was caused by an allergy or stress. She is so happy and playful and is eating well, and is very talkative. She doesn’t even scratch the furniture. She likes just jump up on my desk when I am working and rub noses with me. We’re having so much fun and are totally in love!!
Just wanted to let you know she is doing great!

JJ is doing great! Currently, he is relaxing belly to butt with our dog Arlo. I see a long friendship in the making. Thank you so much for the newest addition to our family! Yesterday was emotional because I was essentially admitting that Jarvis Sr. was not coming back, but his legacy will live on in our household.

History: Arthur was thrown from a moving car in Caribou. The person who witnessed the act tried to get a plate number but the car drove away too fast. Arthur just stood up in the yard and walked into the witness’s arms. He was brought to HHPR the same day and never stopped purring. We think he was abandoned because he needed to be neutered.
Home at last
Hi Norma,
I adopted Arthur from you. I would like to let you know that Arthur, now is called Boots, (we changed his name) and he’s doing great. Thought I would send some pictures to let you know that Arthur has adjusted well to the house and to our two dogs and the litter of pups lol. He enjoys playing with our daughter and son plus the pups. He’s so loving could not have asked for a better cat. Thank you so much.
