Bubba – December 2012

Bubba is one of our very distinguished citizens at Halfway Home Pet Rescue. Poor Bubba has suffered his entire life with no place to call home, no medical care and all this time suffering with a very painful eye condition. Bubba will be fine once his surgery is done on Wed., Nov. 28 to correct his bottom eye lids and then he will be neutered. From top to bottom, Bubba will feel like a new man, ready for a new world without pain or hardships. Bubba is Leukemia/AIDS tested negative, wormed, Revolution treated, distemper and rabies vaccinations, and will be neutered and corrective eye surgery on Nov. 28th. A few hundred bucks of HHPR medical care can make our darling boy adoptable at only $25.00 to the right family. Bubba is extremely clean, gets along with other animals and his favorite hobby is cuddling and rolling for tummy rubs. Believe me, Bubba is one very unique and special cat.   Note: Bubba received his surgery (the photo shows him just before his stitches were removed. He was adopted into a great home. A HHPR supporter paid for his surgery.
Bubba

Bubba before surgery, he could hardly open his eyes.

Her owner perished in the fire and this beautiful girl was found hiding under some furniture. After being given emergency treatment she was brought to HHPR and treated at the PI Animal Hospital. She's had a rough time but has healed from her injuries and has been doing well at HHPR. Tabitha has made a full recovery from injuries suffered in a house fire during which her owner perished. Her original family is not able to adopt her but hopes she will find that special forever home. Mary – March 2012

Mary is a classic tiger kitty with extra toes & startling green eyes who came from a terrible background (hoarder). She required 6 weeks to feel well & safe. Mary was a young mother with a litter of kittens but no milk to feed them. We syringe fed the litter. Mary loved & cleaned them. But it was too late & we soon lost the babies. Mary grieved. We then gave Mary every orphan kitten to love and clean. She gradually came out of her grief. She is now clean, healthy and happy & is allowed the freedom of the entire house. She takes a while to get used to new people and she probably will not be a lap cat for a while, but she will be a clean, friendly, happy housemate who will allow you to pet her when she on your chair. She is Leukemia/AIDS tested, spayed, all shots, wormed & Revolution treated. Mary is about 1 year old now and has all of her medicals done. After several weeks, we were able to trap him and he is so very, very grateful. He is gentle, loving and happy to be warm. The photo doesn't do him justice as he had just come from the vet for neutering an treatment of his injuries from being hit by a car. Tabitha II – August 2012

Tabitha2 is a 9 year old spayed female with a serious dental problem and whose owner died 6 months ago. The next door neighbor took over Tabitha's care until she needed to move in with family members who did not have room for another pet. Tabitha's teeth are broken and severely rotten some of them deep into the root. Our consulting vet estimated cost of Tabitha's dental work at $650.00, but offered to do any and all dental work on this loving, otherwise very healthy 9-year old, for a maximum of $400.00 to give her a chance of having a pain free life for the next 10 or more years Tabitha might have left. We have asked for donations and our supporters quickly responded - Tabitha received her medical care and is recovering.

Lucy is a 5 week old female kitten found near death on the Access Highway. She was only a few days old and apparently had been dropped by her momma when she tried to move the litter to a new location but because a string was caught tied around Lucy's neck, the momma was unable to move her. Linda Fortin saw the feral mother sit several feet away as she watched Linda rescue the kitten and bring it to Halfway Pet Rescue for help. Lucy needs another 3 1/2 weeks before she is old enough for adoption.
Little Lucy – October 2012
Adopted 2012

Miss Molly – October 2012

Miss Molly was also rescued by Linda Fortin near an abandoned trailer park on the Access Highway. A pit bull was eagerly digging his way under the trailer skirting to eat the 3 week old kitten who had wandered away from her feral mother and could not return because the pit bull had in the meantime been tied outside the trailer. Linda and her niece distracted the dog and rescued Miss Molly. Miss Molly was already taught to hiss and spit at humans, but within 2 bottle feeding, Molly decided that humans were not so bad after all. Molly will be available for adoption in about another 3 1/2 weeks.
